The Sunshine Coast, Queensland (2023)
A two-week visit to a second cousin of my wife who lives in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. We stayed in Mooloolaba near the ocean. The Sunshine Coast is about an hour north of Brisbane.

We went for a picnic lunch at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in Maleny, Queensland, Australia. Great view when looking at the Glass House mountains in the distance.
A kangaroo getting up
While waiting for our serenity cruise through the Everglades we enjoyed the many animals and birds at Habitat Noosa in Cooloola, Queensland, Australia. Here we admired a pretty lazy kangaroo getting up after a long sleep.

Back towards Lake Cootharaba
Back towards Lake Cootharaba after a gorgeous serenity cruise on the Noosa River in the Cooloola Resources Reserve, Queensland, Australia. This everglades system is one of the only two in the world and it is a truly awesome experience.
Through the retreating ocean
We never did an actual drive on the beach so we were pretty excited for this Great Beach drive along the Pacific Ocean starting on the Noosa North Shore in Queensland, Australia. The 4WD drove mainly on the wet sand next to the waves.

While driving on Cooloola Beach, Queensland, Australia we had to cross some streams coming from the dune system. Always provides for a pretty picture.

This was the amazing view we had from Double Island Point lighthouse at Double Island Point, Queensland, Australia. Our Great Beach drive took us all the way from the end there to this lighthouse by 4WD.

Double Island Point in Queensland, Australia sticks out so far into the ocean that it is possible to view the incoming waves from behind. A totally different perspective than the usual ocean wave view.
Just arrived in Honeymoon Bay
The next stop on our Great Beach drive was Honeymoon Bay in Cooloola, Queensland, Australia. An awesome area with a shoal complex where we spent quite some time strolling around hopping from sandbank to sandbank.
Onto the next sandbank
Hopping onto the next sandbank in Honeymoon Bay near Cooloola, Queensland, Australia. It's really easy to stroll around on the sandbanks. The water was really nice and the sand was soft.
The beach is all gone
Arrived at Rainbow Beach in Cooloola, Queensland, Australia. Unfortunately it was not possible anymore to drive along the beach as the latest storm took away all of the sand. Apparently the situation here changes rapidly by a combination of wind and ocean forces. All the trees seen here were under two metres of sand a few months ago.
Wall of sand
