Ameland, The Netherlands (2020)
At the end of the first summer in the Covid period we decided on a short trip to the island of Ameland in the north of The Netherlands. Normally a pretty busy island, now relatively quiet as there were hardly any tourists. Weatherwise it was a mix between rain and some sunshine.

Mudflats
Next to the place where we had to wait for the ferry to the island of Ameland in The Netherlands we got to enjoy some nice nature. So called mudflats near the village of Holwerd in the province of Friesland as far as the eye can see.
Right on time
The only way to travel to the island of Ameland in The Netherlands is by ferry. It leaves from the village of Holwerd in the Province of Friesland and it was right on time.
World upside down
This is what happens if you play with a new toy. I loved to use my crystal lens ball. It literally turns the world upside down here at the nature reserve called Kooiplaats on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands.
Not much life to guard
We were surprised to find a lifeguard station on the beach that looked like the ones we saw in the United States. Not much life to guard though as the weather was not too good and no tourists were around to swim. This lifeguard station is near the village of Buren on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands.
Walking through history
Walking through history in the village of Nes on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands. Many houses in the centre of the few villages are over three hundred years old.
Let's climb that thing
This day started off cloudy but as soon as were near the coastline the weather cleared up. A perfect time for the lighthouse, so let's climb that thing. The lighthouse is a nice red & white landmark on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands.
Open for business
Despite Covid measures, the lighthouse was open for business. So we went up and got some perfect 360 degrees views over the island of Ameland in The Netherlands.
Happy hour mojitos
Happy hour on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands. After a bit of hiking on this beautiful day we felt we deserved a nice cocktail with an afternoon snack.
Horse-drawn carriage on the beach
It was lovely to see this horse-drawn carriage on the beach on the island of Ameland in The Netherlands. Not too many tourists around for this business to be profitable I reckon.
Pile of wood
I liked this pile of wood in one of the few forests on the island of Ameland, The Netherlands. The forests on the island are small but make for a relaxing hike towards the dunes.
Path leading to the beach
Strolling through the dunes on a cloudy day on the island of Ameland, The Netherlands. Even without some sunshine it was a relaxing walk.
