Luxembourg, Europe
We started our road trip to Italy in the small country of Luxembourg. Even though it's small it has a lot to offer in terms of history and nature. We stayed at a lovely airbnb in the countryside from where we were able to visit the castle in Vianden as well as the wonderful Müllerthal.

Rolling yellow hills
We loved driving through the rolling yellow hills near the town of Merscheid in Luxembourg. These rapeseed fields always look awesome in Spring.
Quiet country road
Our first stay of the road trip to Italy was in the small village of Gralingen in Luxembourg. Perfect view from the balcony of our airbnb overlooking a quiet country road.
After a hard day's work
Just sitting on the balcony of our airbnb in the village of Gralingen in Luxembourg. Not really much happened as Gralingen is a very quiet village but at the end of the day we saw this tractor going home after a hard day's work.
Tree silhouettes
Gorgeous view on some tree silhouettes from our airbnb in the village of Gralingen in Luxembourg. Our first stay on this awesome road trip did not disappoint.
Château de Vianden from a distance
While in Luxembourg we definitely wanted to visit Château de Vianden near the town with the same name. This was a lovely view of the castle from a distance.
Looking through the wall
Looking through one of the walls of Château de Vianden near the town of Vianden in Luxembourg. Lovely old castle in a great condition. I can definitely recommend to spend some time here.
The curved passage
A more modern part in Château de Vianden near the town of Vianden in Luxembourg. We loved how they shaped this curved passage.
Great hiking trail
We found an excellent hiking trail in the Müllerthal, Luxembourg. Not too many people around and great weather made that we really enjoyed this beautiful part of nature. We ultimately ended up at the Schiessentümpel waterfall.
The old bridge
The old bridge over the Schiessentümpel waterfall near the village of Müllerthal in Luxembourg. The Black Ernz river has carved three channels into a sandstone sill here making the waterfall have three separate streams.
Three milky streams
Three milky streams making up the Schiessentümpel waterfall in the Müllerthal, Luxembourg. It is a waterfall on the Black Ernz river near the town of Müllerthal in the east of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is the highest waterfall in Luxembourg.
Crossing the bridge
Crossing the bridge next to the Schiessentümpel waterfall in the Müllerthal, Luxembourg. We really loved this stone bridge with a wooden railing that has been built over the waterfall.
Rock formation 'Perekop'
We had heard of the rock formation called 'Perekop' near the town of Berdorf in Luxembourg and decided to pay a visit. Beautiful area and it would have been possible to walk all the way up. As we were short on time we only went up a little bit and admired the views from there.
Church of the nativity of the Virgin Mary
We loved the village of Esch-sur-Sûre in Luxembourg. After a lovely lunch we decided to visit the castle ruins. Turned out to be a bit more strenuous climb up than we had anticipated, but the views were rewarding. We were actually higher than the church of the nativity of the Virgin Mary.
The square tower
We made it to the castle ruins in the village of Esch-sur-Sûre in Luxembourg. Once we had climbed our way up we enjoyed the beautiful views all around. We really loved the square tower.
Esch-sur-Sûre Castle, now a ruin, is located on a spur in the small town of Esch-sur-Sûre in the north-west of Luxembourg. It is naturally protected by a sharp meander in the River Sûre which surrounds the town and the castle on three sides.
Sunny street
We loved strolling around in the lovely village of Esch-sur-Sûre in Luxembourg. So many pretty houses, especially in this nice sunny street.
Roadside flowers
Driving on the roads in Luxembourg has a lot of advantages. Good roads, great views, and sometimes even nice roadside flowers. We just loved it!
