Flowering bulbs, The Netherlands (2015)
We love to visit the flowering bulbs in the Netherlands. We never visit the tourist traps like 'Keukenhof' but rather go out into the countryside and look at tulips, daffodils and hyacinths in the fields. Historically the province of Noord-Holland is host to the majority of bulb farms but the province of Flevoland is a good second. In April of 2015 friends took us to the area around Noordwijk in the western part of Noord-Holland.
All photo's can be purchased on various materials through my shop on artheroes.com.
Below are all the photos related to this travel experience including the relevant link to the shop.
Endless tulips
It is always amazing to see the endless rows of tulips in Spring, colourful fields full of them. Although most of the fields are in the northern part of the province of Noord-Holland, these were found near the town of Noordwijk.
The white ones
Somehow white tulips seem to be more delicate than the other colours. They are never truly white and usually have a bit of yellow in them. These white ones we saw at De Leeweg near the town of Noordwijk in the Netherlands.
The blue ones
Hyacinths are one of the most wanted flower bulbs after tulips and they come in a variety of colours, blue being the most beautiful I think. These blue ones we found at De Leeweg near the town of Noordwijk in the Netherlands.
Invasion of the daffodils
Usually the daffodils bloom earlier than tulips but if timed right they can be seen both. We were lucky to find this invasion of the daffodils on the Gooweg near the town of Noordwijkerhout in the Netherlands.
The pink ones
Pink is quite a common colour for tulips and here near the village of De Engel near Lisse in the Netherlands we found large fields full of them. We really liked the pink ones.
The purple ones
As a colour for tulips, the purple ones are quite unusual. We were surprised there were so many of them, but apparently there is a market for them. These were found at the Prinsenweg near the village of Teylingen in the Netherlands.
